Do I really need rent a car insurance?

The answer to that question is yes and we highly recommend it. Accidents do sometimes happen and with our insurance you can relax. If you or someone else had an accident with the car, or if you crashed into other vehicle, it would be best to know that the car insurance will take care of the costs. Insurance is a small price to pay, but without car insurance it could mean a lot more.

Our Car Insurance Policy is the Best!

IN CASE OF A COLLISION ALL OUR CARS HAVE THE FOLLOWING INSURANCE COVERAGE

FREE WITHOUT ANY CHARGE:

1) Accident assistance: when you dial the telephone number 210 9951501 a specialist will arrive wherever you are. He will assist you with the accident procedures until the police arrive.

2) Replacement of your damaged vehicle with a new one to continue your vacation.

3) Transportation of the driver and all passengers to your hotel, or airport.

4) Transportation of the damaged car to the garage.

5) Third party Insurance.
- For any damage you make to other persons, animals or property (see more details below).

6) Fire Insurance.
- Partial or total damage to the vehicle resulting from fire.

7) Personal Accident Insurance (P.A.I.).
- Covers the driver and the passengers for doctor and medicine expenses (see more details below).

Full Car Insurance (C.D.W.)

This insurance relieves you of financial responsibility if your car is damaged or completely destroyed in an accident :

ð Full Insurance (C.D.W.) without excess: You are totally covered.


Special Full Insurance

Covers all damages to the car that do not take place in an accident. Specifically, damages to tires and wheels, underside of the car. Additionally, it covers damages to the interior valet, as well as small parts stolen from the car (i.e. mirrors, antennas, etc) and damages after a break-in attempt. Finally, this insurance covers the total theft of the car.


Additional Information

þ The Third-party Insurance covers damages to property up to 200.000 euros and to people up to 500.000 euros (excluding passengers of rental vehicle).

þ Theft Insurance covers the stolen car; not your stolen personal belongings.

þ The Personal Insurance for the driver covers damages.

þ Damages to tires, wheels, underside and interior of the car are covered by the Special Full Insurance (Special F.D.W.). The same applies for theft of small parts of the car (i.e. mirrors, wipers, etc.), scratches on the surface of the car, damages to the underside of the car as well as damages to the car resulting from a break-in (broken locks, windows, interior valet, etc.).

þ Insurance will be void if an accident occurs where drugs or alcohol are involved. No insurance company covers the damages of an accident if the driver was driving against the Law.

þ Parking tickets and traffic fines are paid by the renter. No insurance covers broken or lost car keys.Also, the insurance does not covers the broken tops in the cabrios (if you close the roof when the boot is full with luggage) and the soft top jeeps.

Cancellation Insurance :  10  Euro

In case your cannot come to join your holidays because of any reasonyou don't have to pay the cancellation fee of 1-3 rental days


Payment methods

  1. Pay now (save extra 5%): you can choose to pay when you make the online booking request with credit card (Visa or Master) and get extra 5% discount.
  2. Pay later: you can pay before the delivery day by bank (we send you our bank details and you make the deposit).
  3. Pay on arrival: you can pay on the day of car delivery by cash


Age Requirements

Minimum driving experience is of 3 years. For rental of vehicle from group 0 until D clients must be at least 23 old. For rental of rest of the groups (E until L2), clients must be at least 28 years old.

Refuelling Charge

For every car we deliver, the level of fuel is taken note of. The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a charge of Euro 10 will be applied in addition to the cost of the missing fuel. If the vehicle is returned with more fuel, there is no money-refund.

Late Returns

For vehicle drop-offs, a maximum tolerance of 59 minutes is allowed, after which, an extra day’s rental will be charged.

Loss 

In case of keys' loss the client will be charged of Euro 150. In case of documents' loss the client will be charged of Euro 60.

Maintenance

Maintenance expenses will not be reimbursed without prior authorisation from our staff and without presentation of a receipt made out to Π.ΚΟΚΑΛΗΣ ΑΕ.

Complaints

Any complaints must be received by our main office within 60 days of the closure of the rental agreement.

Is it possible to reserve a specific make/model of vehicle? 

THE BEST S.A. will make every effort to supply the reserved model of vehicle. However, it is impossible for us to guarantee that a specific model will be provided. If the make/model of vehicle that you booked is not available then the Company will supply a suitable alternative from the same vehicle group classification or from a larger group.

What documentation do I need on collection of car? 

On collection of your vehicle you need

1. your rental voucher, which you will have received by email when your reservation was confirmed,

2. a full valid national driver's license for a minimum of 3 years,

3. passport or ID

THE BEST S.A. can not be held responsible for rentals rejected if you do not present the above documents at collection of car.

When is a booking confirmed? 

A reservation is only confirmed once you receive the reservation voucher (confirmation) from THE BEST S.A.. This voucher must be produced on collection of your vehicle.

How much deposit is required? 

No deposit is needed for a reservation to be made.

Do I need to buy insurance if I have credit card coverage? 

CDW (Collision Damage Waiver Insurance) is included in all rates. If you wish to decline this insurance, please note THE BEST S.A. will not deal with foreign policies or credit card companies in the event of damages to the hired vehicle. Renters will have to pay for damages on return of vehicle and THE BEST S.A. will issue them copies of all paperwork so they may make the claim themselves.

Can I have more than one driver? 

All rates quoted include one driver only. All extra drivers are subject to the same age and license requirements as the hirer of the vehicle. Generally there is no maximum number of drivers per vehicle. The charge for an additional driver is found when you book online.

Can I drive to neighboring countries? 

Vehicles can't be taken outside of the Crete where they were collected from.

What is THE BEST S.A. Rentals Cancellation/Amendment policy? 

There is no cancelation fee, if you inform us at least 15 days before the scheduled arrival date. If you have prepaid, we will refund you the whole amount of money.

However, if you inform us 14 days before the scheduled arrival date, the prepaid amount of money will be refunded but a cancelation fee will be charged. the cost of the cancelation fee depends on the season (e.g. low season) and the group of car.

What do I do in the event of an accident? 

The renter will be required to inform the rental agent immediately of any accident.

The renter must take the following measures:

- Obtain complete details of the persons involved in the accident as well as of any possible witnesses.

- Immediately provide the rental agent with all the details regarding the accident, which may be of use.

- Immediately notify the authorities if the third party should be investigated or in the event of injured persons.

- Do not leave the vehicle without taking correct measures to protect and safeguard it.

 * For example, if you have a flat tire and you continue driving, you will have a destroyed tire which needs replacement. The new tire must be paid by the careless driver.
